Our History & Roots

The story of Wagner is rooted in a lifelong passion for serving Southwest Nebraska. Owner Chris Wagner began his automotive journey in McCook back in 1986, learning the value of honest service and strong relationships from local mentors. In 2000, Chris and his wife, Annette, took a leap of faith by purchasing the local Ford dealership, later expanding to bring Toyota (2004) and Chevrolet (2005) into the Wagner family.

For over two decades, we proudly operated out of two historic downtown locations on West Second Street and East B Street, honoring an automotive legacy in McCook that dates as far back as 1936. While our recent move to our state-of-the-art facility at 1201 N. U.S. Highway 83 allowed us to bring all three trusted brands under one 40,000-square-foot roof, we haven't forgotten where we came from. In fact, if you look at our front entrance, you’ll find four rows of original downtown B Street brick pavers built right into the threshold—a permanent reminder that downtown McCook will always be in our hearts.

Today, Wagner is truly a multi-generational family effort. Chris and Annette are joined by their sons, Garrett and Chandler, along with their daughters-in-law, Ashley and Tricia. Together with our team of over 40 dedicated local employees—some of whom have been serving this community for over 40 years — we remain committed to investing in the future of McCook. We aren't just selling and servicing vehicles; we are raising our children and grandchildren right here alongside the loyal neighbors who have supported us for decades.
